Bins, SKUs and how matching works

How we match a sale to your inventory, and how bins and SKUs make it faster and more accurate.

Bins

Give each item a Bin: any short label for where it’s stored (“B4”, “Shelf 2”, “Binder 1”). When the item sells, the alert shows Bin: B4 in green, on your computer and your phone, so you can grab it and ship.

Tip: many sellers number tubs or shelves and put the bin in the eBay Custom label (SKU) field too. Import the eBay CSV and the SKU comes along.

How matching works

The sale email contains the item title. We compare it with the titles in your inventory, ignoring small differences (“Men’s” vs “Mens”, “32x30” vs “32 x 30”, plural/singular, words like NWT). If one item is a close match, the alert links to it.

  • SKU always wins: if your SKU appears in the listing title, the match is certain.
  • No close match? You still get the alert, with links to the listings page of each site you sell on.

Better matches

  • Keep inventory titles close to your listing titles (importing does this for you).
  • Put a short SKU at the end of listing titles, for example … B4-017.
  • Avoid two active items with near-identical titles. Add the size or color to tell them apart.

Active and Sold

When a verified sale arrives, the matching item moves to Sold automatically. If a sale was a mistake (order cancelled by the buyer), open the item and set it back to Active by editing it.
