Set up Gmail forwarding
Forward only your marketplace sale emails from Gmail to Sold Elsewhere, step by step.
This takes about 2 minutes. You’ll add your private address to Gmail, confirm it, then create a filter so only sale emails are forwarded.

1. Copy your private address
Open the extension → Setup. Under 1. Your private forwarding address click Copy. It looks like s-abc123xyz@soldelsewhere.com. Keep it private: anyone with it could send emails to your alerts.
2. Add it as a forwarding address in Gmail
- Click Gmail → Forwarding ↗ in the extension (or open Gmail → ⚙ Settings → See all settings → Forwarding and POP/IMAP).
- Click Add a forwarding address, paste your address, click Next → Proceed → OK.
Don’t choose “Forward a copy of incoming mail” on this page. That would forward everything. The filter in step 4 forwards only sale emails.
3. Confirm it
Gmail sends a confirmation email to your Sold Elsewhere address. Within a few seconds, the confirmation code appears in the extension under step 3, with a click to confirm link.
- Click the link, or
- Back in Gmail’s Forwarding settings, type the code into Verify and click it.
Code not showing? Click ↻ next to “Waiting for Gmail’s confirmation”. Still nothing after 2 minutes: see Gmail confirmation code didn’t arrive.
4. Create the sale-email filter
- In the extension, click Open Gmail filter ↗. Gmail opens with the search already filled in: from
ebay.com OR poshmark.com OR mercari.com OR depop.com OR etsy.com OR whatnot.com OR grailed.com OR vinted.com, subjectsold OR sale. - Click Create filter.
- Tick Forward it to and choose your Sold Elsewhere address.
- Click Create filter.
5. Test it
Click Send a test alert in the extension. You’ll see a test alert in the Alerts tab (and on your phone, if connected). After your next real sale, Last email received under Setup shows when we last heard from you.
FAQ
Does Gmail forward old sales? No, only sales that arrive after you create the filter.
Do you see my other emails? No. The filter only forwards marketplace emails whose subject mentions a sale. From those we keep the marketplace, item title, price and shipping date. Never the email itself or buyer details.
